Global supply chains under threat from myriad events

We often hear that shipping accounts for more than 80 per cent of global trade but, as Liz Booth reports, that relies on a smooth supply chain - something that is in short supply right now

Shippers must be forgiven for wondering what next - first we had the pandemic, then a war in Europe, Houthi rebels, climate change and most recently an accident, all conspiring to upset the world's supply chains and leave the shipping sector with some unpalatable choices about routing and costs.
