£48,000 settlement for injured skip lorry driver
A man injured by a dumper truck has received £48,000 in damages. The man was employed as a skip lorry driver responsible for
delivering and collecting skips. Whilst waiting for the defendant’s dumper truck driver to load the skip, he was injured when
without any warning, the dumper driver made a sudden manoeuvre with the dumper, catching the claimant between the dumper and
the loaded skip. He suffered internal injuries and as a result, he needed to undergo laparotomy with sigmoid colectomy and
a primary anastomosis. Court proceedings were issued and although liability was in dispute, Levenes said, a settlement was
agreed.
