Admiralty - Collision - Fault - Causation - Allocation of responsibility - Merchant Shipping Act 1995, section 187

At about 01.10 on 9 November 2021 there was a collision in the Bay of Bengal off Chattogram, Bangladesh, between MV Belpareil and MV Kiran Australia, identically proportioned, geared Supramax bulk carriers. Kiran Australia's rudder and propeller and Belpareil's port anchor cable came into contact, closely followed by hull-to-hull contact between Kiran Australia's starboard quarter and Belpareil's port bow. The issue was the attribution of blame for the collision.
