HTL, a UK company, carried on the business of commodity trading. HTL was allegedly the owner of a cargo of nickel briquettes and the holder of three bills of lading issued in August 2022 relating to the cargo. The bills of lading provided for the cargo to be shipped from Pasir Gudang in Malaysia to Nhava Sheva in India. BLPL, a Singapore shipping company, was alleged to be the contractual carrier and the issuer of the bills of lading.
