Judge refuses brake claim consolidation

Judge Alfred Wolin, presiding over the Federal-Mogul chapter 11 bankruptcy, has refused a move by DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors and other motor manufacturers to consolidate tens of thousands of asbestos claims from motor mechanics into a single proceeding in Delaware District Court. He pointed out the bankruptcy court has no power to make such consolidation.
