Tobacco update

An antitrust challenge to a US$206bn national settlement of tobacco litigation, put forward by cigarette wholesalers, has been refused hearing by the US Supreme Court. They argued that the agreement was a violation of federal antitrust laws in that the wholesale business had been damaged because manufacturers raised their prices to cover the costs of the settlement.
