Tyre defect report system

In the aftermath of the Ford/Firestone tyre problems, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has proposed new rules requiring reports from tyre and motor manufacturers of warranty claims, customer complaints and any other matters that could provide early warning of defects. The rules will also require reports of property damage in excess of US$1,000.
