Healthcare liability act in New South Wales

Responding to the ‘medical indemnity crisis’, the New South Wales government addressed the matter by legislation in July 2001. The act’s overall aim is maintenance of affordable medical indemnity and definition of acceptable products providing this now compulsory cover. It covers a series of reforms to compensation payable and regulations (still to be released) on market operation.
