11.1.1 The constitutional structure of Greece

Greece (officially ‘the Hellenic Republic’) is a Parliamentary Republic2 and a State with rich constitutional tradition. Greece’s Constitution origins date back to 1864. However, the current Constitution was created by the Fifth Revisional Parliament, entered into force in 1975 and has since been amended four times, in 1986, 2001, 2008 and 2019.3
