Old Republic swings to loss on investments but beats forecast

Combined ratio in US group's general insurance segment improves to 90.0% as underwriting income rises 24% to $96.2m in Q3

US insurer Old Republic International swung to a third-quarter net loss $91.7m from income of $88.7m as a near doubling of investment losses to $377.1m offset increased profits in its general insurance segment.
