During the first half of 2022, there have been numerous regulatory initiatives at the global, regional and national levels, but the ones that could have the greatest transformative impact have focused on sustainability, digitisation, and operational resilience. Regulators and supervisors have also reacted to the threats to financial stability associated with the geopolitical turmoil regarding the war in Ukraine, and the possible resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic. This backdrop has highlighted the risks of recession, soaring inflation, rising interest rates, currency fluctuations, as well as cybersecurity concerns and adherence to the new sanctions regimes.
