Claim for alleged negligence in the treatment of a sports injury

Johnson v Williams [2022] EWHC 1585 (QB)

The claimant in this case, who sought damages for clinical negligence in the treatment of a knee injury, was unable to establish causation on the balance of probabilities, so the claim was dismissed. The claimant was a professional footballer who alleged that the only possible and likely cause of a medial retinaculum rupture, following urgent surgery to remove infective material in his left knee, had been an error during surgery.
