Safety of navigation in confined waters

Captain Kostas Karavasilis, of the UK P&I Club, now considers safety in confined waters and the ways in which ships could reduce accident numbers

In recent years, despite the continuous training of crews, it is apparent that accidents such as collisions and groundings in narrow passages, such as rivers, have not decreased either in frequency or magnitude.
