“We continue to make good progress,” the Economic Secretary to the Treasury says in his foreword to the government’s review of the UK’s AML/CFT regulatory and supervisory regime, published on 24 June [2022]. [1] It’s a highly questionable claim, and mentions of legislation to create a register of overseas owners of UK property and UK Companies House reform grate as it took war in Ukraine to bring them forward.
