Complex trial fails to faze jury as insurers lose

Following a month-long trial in the case of Brooklyn Union Gas Company v Century Indemnity Insurance Company at a New York Supreme Court, a New York county jury completed a 47-page verdict sheet that concluded a majority of discharges of wastewater by Brooklyn Union between 1941 and 1969 were accidental and thus covered by excess policies issued by Chubb unit Century Indemnity.
