The EU Blocking Regulation in practice

For more than 25 years European Union operators have been protected from the extraterritorial application of third-country laws under the so-called “EU Blocking Statute”. This important regulation, which was adopted in 1996, was primarily intended to counter the imposition of US sanctions against Iran, Libya and Cuba in other countries.
