The World Meteorolgical Organization’s 2021 Atlas of Mortality and Economic Losses from Weather, Climate and Water Extremes
(1970-2019) reveals economic losses because of weather, climate and water extremes have increased sevenfold from the 1970s
($49m a day on average between 1970 and 1979) to the 2010s ($383m a day on average between 2010 and 2019).
