Firefighters have four times higher rates of cancer than public

Research has found more than four times higher rates of cancer amongst firefighters relative to the general public. The research was carried out by the University of Central Lancashire and involving 10,000 serving firefighters. It found 4.1 per cent of surveyed serving firefighters had been diagnosed with cancer, compared with less than 1 per cent of the general population.
