Rate increases

More detail of trends during 2000 (see earlier report last month) come from Willis’s Global Aviation Bulletin . While the trend for hull increases to outstrip liability is confirmed, November hikes of 36.5% liability and 48.5% hull well exceed those for the year up to that date of 15.1% and 17.7% respectively. The November renewal figures exclude end-of-year renewals from seven airlines with poor loss records, among which EgyptAir, Alaska and Varig see premium increases of more than 100% for combined hull and liability cover.
