Maternity and parental leave

The first successful case brought under the maternity and parental leave regulations of the Employment Rights Act, which allow a reasonable amount of time off to care for dependants, was heard at the Manchester employment tribunal. Under this legislation dismissal is automatically categorised as unfair where it falls within the regulations, irrespective of however short the time of employment.
