Risk to haemophiliacs

Naturally suspicions after the HIV and hepatitis C infection of hundreds of people in the 1980s, people receiving treatment for haemophilia suspect they are now at risk of vCJD infection. Although a number of health authorities have switched to genetically-produced ‘recombinants’, failure of orders from the Department of Health mean others are still using the cheaper human-derived treatment.
