Maritime security promoted into top tier of geopolitical hot topics

In the wake of the Mercer Street tanker attack, maritime security has been upgraded to a UN Security Council agenda item with high-level international engagement, writes Richard Meade of Lloyd’s List

Maritime security is being undermined at “an alarming pace” by challenges around contested boundaries and navigation routes, the depletion of natural resources and armed attacks – from piracy to terrorism.
