Acrisure Re's Hedley: Primary carriers want a fairer price for their reinsurance cover

Conditions in the re/insurance market remain difficult despite carriers having generally become more comfortable dealing with the increased level of volatility. Major buyers of casualty reinsurance are doing so mainly to manage the volatility. But deterioration in certain casualty classes – commercial motor, in particular – and large court verdicts in the US are huge causes of concern for the market.
