Toughening of Equal Pay Act

The government is preparing proposals to toughen the 25-year-old Equal Pay Act. Employers will be required to submit evidence more quickly than at present and tribunals will no longer be able to dismiss claims as ‘unreasonable’. All claims will have to either be considered by tribunal or assessed for validity by an independent expert.
