Owens-Corning seeks Chapter 11 protection

An unexpected move by Owens-Corning, after two years’ work on the settlement scheme based on payments of US$2.4bn over five years to settle asbestos claims, is the filing for voluntary bankruptcy court protection (‘Chapter 11’). This is a reaction to the increasing amount of asbestos claims and its lower-than-expected operating results.
