Pesticide residues
The government’s Working Party on Pesticide Residues found 27% of food samples, tested in 1999, carried residues of pesticides,
two presenting serious health risks. Almost half of fresh fruit and vegetables were affected. As a result, the government
plans new regulations – though probably only applying to baby food – operative from September 2002.
