BMS RE EXPANDS US ORIGINATION PRACTICE WITH SENIOR HIRE

London-based reinsurance broker BMS Re has appointed Shruti Sem as executive vice president in the origination team, effective immediately. With more than 20 years’ insurance and reinsurance experience, Sem joins BMS Re from Guy Carpenter, where she held an array of senior roles including senior vice president in the reinsurance broking division. Sem began her career in the industry as an actuarial analyst at XL Insurance in 2002 before joining JLT Re in 2006. Based in Philadelphia, Sem will report to Jeff Irvan, chief property officer of BMS Re in the US. Irvan said Sem’s analytical and marketing skills will help BMS Re navigate the “significant opportunities” presented by the US market. “We anticipate her contributing to our already rapid growth, as well as our continual drive to sharpen our skill sets and capabilities,” he said.
