SEC – Update on sustainability reporting

Many people may be wondering what the US position on the IFRS Foundation’s proposals to create a Sustainability Standards Board might be. The acting chair of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has recently made a public statement on climate-related disclosures. However, the brevity of her comments does not give much away. Nonetheless, it could be that what was left unsaid also sheds some light on current thinking.
