COVERYS CEO HANSON TO RETIRE
Coverys chief executive officer and president Gregg Hanson is to retire, effective March 31, 2021. He will hand over to the
medical professional liability (MPL) insurer’s chief operating officer Joseph Murphy, effective April 1. Murphy will succeed
Hanson as CEO and president under the group’s succession plans. Hanson joined Boston-based Coverys in 2000 as chief underwriting
officer, and was appointed CEO and president in 2012. During his nearly 10 year term as CEO, Hanson helped transform Coverys
from a regional MPL insurer to a global writer, the company said. Murphy joined Coverys as COO in 2015. Prior to joining Coverys,
Murphy served as the Commissioner of Insurance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 2009 to 2014.
