Ford Bronco II compensation upheld

A move from Ford Motor for voiding of US$26mn verdict rejected in Alameda County Superior Court. The award – half of US$52mn due to contributory negligence – was made to now-quadriplegic Richard Raimondi and his wife following the flip-over of a Bronco II sport utility vehicle. This is probably the largest purely compensatory award for individual injuries to date; no punitive damages were awarded.
