Brazil to ban use
Brazil is to bring in legislation banning the use of asbestos from 2005. It is currently operating as a major industry, with
23 asbestos cement factories. Thousands of workers are currently claiming compensation for asbestos-related illness. The withdrawal
timescale is broadly similar to that set by the EU.
