Motor insurance claims down in second quarter, but average value increased

The number of motor insurance claims notified to insurers fell significantly in the second quarter of 2020, according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI). This is not surprising given the lockdown period meant that far fewer vehicle journeys were made. Claim payouts during the period were also down, but at a lower rate. However, the average value of personal injury claims notified increased by 34 per cent to £19,500, a record high.
