£1.5mn for brain damage 40 years ago

A strategic health authority is to pay more than £1.5mn in compensation to a brain-damaged man and his mother. The man had been looked after by his mother for the last 40 years. The mother, aged 76, did not realise she was entitled to claim for compensation on behalf of her son until recently. He had suffered asphyxia at birth and was left severely disabled. The authority is to pay £1,575,000, but did not admit negligence.
