Regulation is main driver for chemical substitution in Europe

Regulation is the main driver for companies substituting harmful chemicals with safer alternatives and greener technologies, in particular restriction and authorisation, according to a report from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). Companies are also motivated by customer demand and their own sustainability policies, with ECHA’s substitution strategy also indirectly boosting substitution activities.
