Consent to dialysis

A Healthcare, B NHS Trust v CC [2020] EWHC 574 (Fam)

The High Court has held that dialysis could be administered without the consent of a patient who was suffering from a serious mental illness and who had been detained under the Mental Health Act 1983. The treatment was possible under the provisions of the Mental Health Act 1983 s63 because his refusal of dialysis was a manifestation of his mental disorder.
