Conspiracy to corrupt - Judicial summing-up - Purpose and nature of

On 19 December 2018 in the Crown Court at Southwark, the appellant was convicted of a single offence of conspiracy to corrupt. The particulars of the offence were that, between January 2002 and March 2011, the appellant had conspired with Johannes Venskus and Anders Wikström to make corrupt payments to officials of the Lithuanian government and others in connection with the award of contracts to companies with which the appellant was associated. Venskus and Wikström pleaded guilty to the same charge before the appellant's trial.
