Financial Reporting Council: latest Lab report on climate change reporting

Societal understanding of climate change has grown in recent years and there is an increasing call to take action. Some may have followed the progress of the Paris Agreement, listened to the Governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney’s “Tragedy of the Horizons” speech, heard about the conclusions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Report on Global Warming of 1.5 degree Celsius, seen governments announce action on net-zero ambitions, or been impacted directly by the implications of climate change. It has certainly grown in profile in society, and regardless of which factors have led to this, it is clear that companies and investors are seen as part of the solution to this issue.
