In December 2019, Doorstop Dispensaree, a pharmacy dealingwith individuals and care homes, became the first company to be fined by theUK’s data protection authority – the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) –under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). (Previous fines issuedby the ICO relate to incidents occurring before GDPR came into force in May2018.)
