The impact of IMO 2020 starts to show…

Scott Poulter, of Pacific Green Technologies, takes a practical look at the new sulphur rules and warns prices for low-sulphur fuel are already more than double the cost of higher sulphur fuel

The long anticipated global sulphur cap came into force on 1 January 2020. Under the new regulations, vessels must either use low-sulphur fuel oil (LSFO) or should be fitted with a scrubbing device to remove the sulphur to an equivalent level in its fuel emissions.
