Gulf tensions

London’s insurance market’s Joint War Committee (JWC) has commented that, based on current information, there is no dramatic change to the strategic maritime picture despite clearly increased tensions in the Gulf region. It does, however, acknowledge that the underlying maritime threat remains heightened with an ongoing possibility of escalation. The London insurance market has been operating with these strategic factors in mind since last May said the JWC, and underwriters will continue to ask questions of assureds to ascertain the risk dynamics of individual sailings seeking war-risk cover.
