COVERYS TARGETS MGAS WITH EUROPEAN AGENCY PLATFORM

Medical malpractice insurer Coverys has launched an agency platform and network which will invest in and collaborate with managing general agencies (MGAs) in continental Europe and the UK specialising in the professional lines sector. Coverys European Holdings (CEH) will be led by former Generali executive Steven Spano as chief executive and Doug Robare as chief underwriting officer. The new operation will target non-competing MGAs across Europe with complementary portfolios in the professional lines sector. It is developing infrastructure and technology across the business to help improve MGA performance and reduce operating costs. Spano worked as UK country manager at Generali. His experience also includes working as chief financial officer (CFO) at Generali UK and CFO of Travelers’ managing agency at Lloyd’s.
