Hard times for charterers

It has long been recognised that ships do not run precisely on time and their movements under a time charter cannot be accurately planned. The exigencies of maritime business make it impossible to predict with certainty when the voyage will end and the vessel will be available for redelivery. Late redelivery claims are common especially when the market is strong and even the slightest late redelivery can result in substantial monetary damages.
