MS AMLIN CUTS NINE CLASSES AS IT UNVEILS NEW UNDERWRITING STRATEGY
MS Amlin is to exit a string of classes and business units as it refocuses its operations on three core markets. The London market heavyweight, which has been transforming its business after reporting huge losses in 2017, unveiled a new underwriting strategy. This will see it focus on reinsurance and certain specialty insurance business lines as it looks to target classes where “underwriting expertise is critical and products are not commoditised”. At the same time, MS Amlin will move to exit nine classes of business and operations “that no longer form part of its future strategic direction”. These lines include UK property/casualty (P&C) business such as real estate, fleet and casualty; aviation; bloodstock and UK yacht.
