US FUNDING BILL EXTENDS NFIP UNTIL NOVEMBER 21
President Donald Trump at the weekend signed a stopgap funding measure that extends federal spending – including financing for the National Flood Insurance Programme – until November 21, thereby avoiding a government shutdown. Trump signed the so-called continuing resolution after the Senate followed the House of Representatives in approving the measure late last week by a vote of 82 to 15. The extension is designed to give lawmakers added time to draw up a longer-term appropriations deal. Without the extension, the government was set to shut down on September 30.
