CANADA’S ECONOMICAL NAMES MCFARLANE AS CHIEF RISK AND ACTUARIAL OFFICER
Canadian property/casualty group Economical Insurance has appointed Liam McFarlane as chief risk and actuarial officer, with effect from October 21. He succeeds Linda Goss, who is retiring as chief actuary to take on special projects over the next year; and Innes Day, who has served as chief risk officer for the last two years but will continue to head the legal, strategy and demutualisation teams as senior vice-president. McFarlane joins from Ernst & Young, where he has served as a partner for the past decade, heading the Canadian actuarial practice. He has also served as appointed actuary for numerous property/casualty re/insurers.
