EXTREME DESTRUCTION EXPECTED IN NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS

In the Bahamas, Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama have been subjected to the worst of Dorian’s winds, with torrential rains of more than 30 inches in some sports as well as potential storm surge of 15 to more than 20 feet. Bowen said the water impact may be “even worse” than the windspeeds. Dorian made landfall at Elbow Cay in the northern Bahamas on Sunday with sustained winds of 185 mph, the highest landfall windspeed ever recorded in the Atlantic basin.
