DORIAN REACHES CATEGORY 5 INTENSITY OVER WEEKEND

Dorian continued to strengthen over the weekend, developing into a Category 5 hurricane as it hit the northwestern Bahamas. The storm’s maximum winds of 185mph are among the strongest on record for an Atlantic hurricane and have now been maintained for around 10 hours. According to Steve Bowen, director of catastrophe insight at Aon’s Impact Forecasting unit, Dorian is one of the five strongest storms ever recorded in the Atlantic, based on windspeeds.
