BARBARA EXPECTED TO BECOME HURRICANE IN EASTERN PACIFIC

Tropical storm Barbara became the second named storm of the eastern Pacific hurricane season at the weekend and is expected to attain hurricane strength by Tuesday. Late Sunday, Barbara was centred around 840 miles south of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, moving west at 18 mph with sustained winds of 45 mph. The US National Hurricane Centre said Barbara will likely continue on its westerly course through the week as it maintains hurricane strength. The storm currently poses no threat to land.
