US CONVECTIVE WEATHER DRIVES ANOTHER $1BN WEEK OF LOSSES

Continued severe convective storms in the central and eastern US drove a second consecutive week of $1bn in losses, according to Aon’s Impact Forecasting catastrophe modelling unit. More than 150 tornadoes touched down during the week, including two EF-4 twisters that caused heavy damage in Montgomery County, Ohio and Douglas and Leavenworth counties in Kansas. Historic flooding in the Mississippi and Arkansas river basins was exacerbated by destructive straight-line winds.
