A unified approach
Peregrine Storrs-Fox, along with others in the cargo handling and container transport industry, is spearheading a campaign to bring awareness to issues that undermine safety in the intermodal supply chain and to improve the safety for people, ships and the environment
The physical integrity of the shipping container is, of course the primary reason why it has such a dominant position in transporting
general cargo around the world. What many called a revolution in global trade was initiated in the late 1950s and 1960s when
the introduction of metal containers, later standardised to 20 and 40 ft in length, challenged the traditional “break bulk”
methods of cargo handling.
